Bellator Fighting Championships on Wednesday announced that its former 170-pound champion, Lyman Good, would take part in the promotion’s Season 4 welterweight tournament.

Good (10-1) made his way to the title by winning three fights in the first Bellator welterweight tournament during the promotion’s inaugural season. Belt around his waist, Good’s professional record then stood at a spotless 10-0.

Ben Askren, a 2008 Olympic freestyle wrestler for the United States that entered mixed martial arts in 2009, burned his way up the charts. He buzz-sawed his way through his first six opponents, winning Bellator’s Season 2 welterweight tournament, earning a shot at Good.

Askren took the title from Good during Season 3, upping his record to 7-0, while handing the former champion his first loss.

Good enters the Season 4 tournament fixated on Askren and getting his title back.

“Being able to fight Askren again was one of the biggest factors behind me entering this tournament. I can’t walk away from an opportunity to avenge a loss to a person that I know deep down – with the proper amount of preparation – I can beat,” he said.

“But right now there are three bodies I’m going to have to get through before I focus on somebody that’s walking around with something that belongs to me.”

Good is the fifth confirmed participant in Bellator’s upcoming Season 4 eight-man 170-pound tournament along with Dan Hornbuckle, Rick Hawn, Brent Weedman, and Chris Lozano.
