A bantamweight bout between Wilson Reis (16-4 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Hugo Viana (7-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) has been pulled from Wednesday’s UFC Fight Night 28 lineup.
UFC officials formally removed the bout from the card over the weekend following Viana’s announcement of a knee injury.
A replacement won’t be sought, and the event will continue with 11 bouts.
UFC Fight Night 28 takes at Mineirinho Arena in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The evening’s main card and select preliminary-card bouts air on FOX Sports 1 following a lone prelim on Facebook.
Reis, a decorated Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, former EliteXC champion and four-time Bellator tournament competitor, was expected to make his UFC debut at the event after he replaced injured Johnny Bedford.
Viana, who was part of the first season of “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil,” won his first two UFC fights but looked to rebound from his first pro loss, which came to T.J. Dillashaw in April.
The official UFC Fight Night 28 lineup now includes:
MAIN CARD (FOX Sports 1, 7 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (FOX Sports 1, 5 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (Facebook, 4:30 p.m. ET)
