Hector Lombard 'not impressed' by fellow UFC contender Matt Brown

Following Matt Brown‘s thrilling UFC Fight Night 40 main-event victory, UFC President Dana White suggested Hector Lombard as a possible next opponent. Lombard, meanwhile, appears unimpressed with “Immortal.”

With his remarkable comeback win over fellow welterweight Erick Silva on May 10, Brown secured his seventh straight victory and his sixth knockout in that span.

Although knocking on the door of a title shot, Brown could still use a big-name win on his resume, which prompted White to mention Lombard (34-4-1 MMA, 3-2 UFC) after the recent event.

Late Tuesday night, Lombard didn’t mention the possibility of the matchup, but he offered a less-than-flattering assessment of Brown.

Lombard, a former Bellator champion, is 3-2 since moving to the UFC, but he’s 2-0 since a drop down to welterweight. Recent wins over Nate Marquardt and Jake Shields have improved his stock in the 170-pound weight class, but like Brown, he could use another high-profile victory or two.

Although UFC officials haven’t announced what’s next for either fighter, a Brown vs. Lombard booking seems quite possible. And given Lombard’s latest tweet, it’s likely to include a little bad blood.
