Hector Lombard ditches 'Lightning' moniker, will now be known as 'Showeather'

The transformation that is Hector Lombard, continues.

Brendan Schaub recently decided to ditch his old "Hybrid" nickname in favor of being called "Big Brown," and now Hector Lombard is following suit.

The man formerly known as "Shango" "Lightning" will henceforth be known as "Showeather." That's according to a recent Facebook post from the welterweight standout.

Check it out:

"Hector 'Lightning' Lombard and the brand has undergone a significant transformation. I wanted my new identity to satisfy my growth and perseverance as a professional competitive athlete. From this moment on, I will be known as Hector 'Showeather' Lombard. Through any ups and downs, through any injuries, wins or losses, I will always show up and do my best. I will always continue through fight THRU ANY WEATHER. Thank you to everyone who has supported and has continue to show love and support. I'm feeling better and starting to train again, I can't wait till the next match!"

I get the concept, but "Lightning" just has that sense of bravado to it.

Nevertheless, the former Bellator middleweight champion and his brand, are currently undergoing a transformation, one that included a drop down to 170 pounds after competing at 185 pounds his entire career (side-by-side pic).

That move paid dividends immediately, as "Lighting" "Showeather" racked up back-to-back victories over Nate Marquardt and Jake Shields at UFC 166 and UFC 171, respectively.

Hector was scheduled to face off against Dong Hyun Kim at this weekend's ( Sat. Aug. 23, 2014) UFC Fight Night 48 event in Macau, China, but an injury forced him out of the Fight Pass event and hewas subsequently replaced by Tyron Woodley.

Though no timetable was given for his return, the next time Lombard steps foot inside the cage, Bruce Buffer will be singing an entirely different tune.
