Jon-Jones-9665-MMA-Awards-2012In his last fight at UFC 159 in April, Jon Jones suffered a horrific injury during his victory over Chael Sonnen. He dislocated his big toe, which looked like something out of a horror film, the bone poking through his skin, his toe dangling from his foot.

That was nearly five months ago, and Jones now says that he – and his toe – is good to go for Saturday’s UFC 165 main event.

“I’m truly healed,” Jones said during a Fox Sports Live interview with Chael Sonnen on Tuesday night. “It’s not as strong as it was, but I’m realizing my spring power, my flying techniques… I have some videos on Instagram of me pulling over 600 pounds behind me and that was coming right off the toe, so the toe is fine.

“I’ve been able to run, swim, do everything that I normally do in camp. I’ve been really blessed to heal completely.”

Jones headlines UFC 165, putting his belt on the line against Alexander Gustafsson in what could end up being a record-setting performance.

Jones is already the youngest fighter to ever capture a UFC title and the youngest fighter to ever defend a UFC title.  He currently holds the longest winning streak in UFC light heavyweight history.

But, he is tied with former titleholder Tito Ortiz for the most successful UFC light heavyweight title defenses with six. That could all change on Sept. 21, if he defeats Gustafsson.

The Swede presents some new challenges for Jones. He is the tallest fighter Jones has ever faced and has the longest reach of any of Jones’ opponents, but at least Jones doesn’t have to worry about his injured toe when he steps in with Gustafsson.
