Their coaching obligations on “The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes” fulfilled, George Sotiropoulos and Ross Pearson can concentrate on what they do best.

Sotiropoulos checked in at 155 pounds for his UFC on FX 6 headliner with Pearson (155) on Friday at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The six other men lined up for duty on the main card, including middleweights Hector Lombard (186) and Rousimar Palhares (186), also met their contracted weight requirements at Thursday’s official weigh-in.

Now 35, Sotiropoulos will enter the cage on a two-fight losing streak. He last appeared at UFC 132 in July 2011, when he was victimized by a Rafael dos Anjos knockout in just 59 seconds at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Injuries have kept the Australian shelved ever since. A well-regarded Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, Sotiropoulos was a semifinalist on Season 6 of “The Ultimate Fighter” and has compiled a 7-2 record in the UFC.

Pearson won Season 9 of “The Ultimate Fighter” reality series. The 28-year-old Alliance MMA representative last fought at UFC on FX 4 in June, when he succumbed to second-round punches from the resurgent Cub Swanson at the Revel Casino in Atlantic City, N.J. A black belt in tae kwon do and brown belt in judo, Pearson has secured eight of his 13 professional victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission.

UFC on FX 6 “Sotiropoulos vs. Pearson” -- which airs lives on the FX network at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT -- will also feature the two finals from “The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes,” as Brad Scott (171) meets Robert Whittaker (170) and Colin Fletcher (155) faces Norman Parke (155).
