Following an injury to Geronimo Dos Santos that forced him out of UFC 153, Brazilian Gabriel Gonzaga is not expected to fight at the upcoming show in his home country.

The word comes from sources close to Gonzaga’s camp that told MMAWeekly.com late Saturday that the former heavyweight title contender would be traveling to Brazil, but is not expected to compete on the card.

Instead, Gonzaga will be on stand-by as a last-minute replacement option should either heavyweight in the Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Dave Herman fight suddenly become unable to compete.

Assuming the Nogueira vs. Herman fight goes on without a hitch, Gonzaga will await word from UFC officials on when he may be able to fight again.

Despite the loss of Gonzaga’s fight, the UFC 153 fight card remains full with 12 total bouts, including six on the main pay-per-view card and four bouts headed to the FX prelims. The remaining two bouts will air on Facebook.

MMAWeekly.com will have more information on Gonzaga’s next fight when it becomes available.

UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem is set to return to the Octagon on September 5th when he faces Ben Rothwell at UFC Fight Night 50, but this time something will be different. UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem discusses his upcoming fight with Ben Rowthwell, and why he believes a fight with Junior dos Santos may be on the horizon. Ben Rothwell may be the lowest ranked heavyweight that Alistair Overeem has faced since he joined the UFC ranks, but after playing with fire one too many times, the Dutch kickboxer is not prepared to take any "265lb beast" lightly.

Stipe Miocic still wants that fight with Junior dos Santos.
The Cleveland-based heavyweight had what he thought was his potential breakthrough fight when he was scheduled to meet the former UFC heavyweight champion on May 31 in Brazil.
But dos Santos had to pull out of the bout with a broken hand, and Miocic instead went on to record a fast knockout of Fabio Maldonado, who was coming up from light heavyweight on short notice.

Tiago dos Santos is the latest Jungle Fight champion to join the UFC, and he has a pretty good reason to believe he’s there to stay.
Born in Laranjal do Jari, a small town in Amapa, Brazil, "Trator" never had the perfect gym to train for high-level opponents, but that didn’t stop him from going 7-0 at Jungle Fight, winning and defending the 155-pound title.
"I went 7-0 at Jungle Fight and won the lightweight championship training with no structure at all in Amapa. I’m confident that I will do we more
