GSP Opens As -425 Favorite to Diaz +325 Underdog For Rumored UFC Bout

Even though the fight isn’t yet official, the odds have opened on the potential UFC welterweight title fight with champion Georges St-Pierre as a huge favorite over potential challenger Nick Diaz.

The odds come courtesy of Nick Kalikas from BetonFighting.com.

According to the odds released late Saturday night, St-Pierre opened at a -425 favorite with Diaz coming in as the underdog at +325.

In his last fight against Jake Shields, who is of course a teammate and close friend of Diaz, St-Pierre came in at nearly -500 odds, so he’s not quite as much of a favorite this time around, but he’s very close.

St-Pierre has been one of the most dominant fighters the UFC has ever seen. While he hasn’t finished an opponent since a TKO win over B.J. Penn in 2009, the Canadian has dominated almost every fight since then winning every round until the Shields fight last month in Canada.

Diaz has been extremely impressive over his last several fights as well, winning 10 fights in a row, including going up for two fights at 183 pounds, and becoming the Strikeforce welterweight champion. Over that span, Diaz has also become one of the most lethal boxers in the sport, developing a wicked jab and nasty body punch.

While the fight between St-Pierre and Diaz isn’t a done deal yet, if the fight does happen as most fans seem to be anticipating, the champion will come in as a huge favorite once again.
