I actually find it interesting. Penn has only looked bad at welterweight, and not THAT bad if you consider who he fought, and if you consider that he actually beat John Fitch in the first two rounds of their fight.

Penn's fights against Edgar were also extremely close. The first fight should have been a draw, as both fighters went round to round all the way through without really doing that much, and taking very little damage.

If Penn actually has to force himself to train and get fit, and he fights against someone who isn't bigger and stronger, then he may well still be able to give Edgar a run for his money. In any case, I doubt he's going to get beat up like he did against Diaz or McDonald.
