Frank Trevino signs three-fight deal with Legacy FC, expected to debut in May

frank-trevino.jpgUndefeated prospect Frank Trevino (10-0) has signed a three-fight deal with the Texas-based Legacy Fighting Championships and is expected to debut for the promotion next month.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today confirmed the deal with Trevino’s manager, Wade Hampel.

“It’s exciting to know I’ll soon be fighting for such a respected promotion,” Trevino said. “I can’t wait to prove to everyone that I belong at this level, and I plan on staying true to my goal of representing Mexican people in the sport of MMA.”

Trevino is expected to debut at “Legacy FC 20: Assuncao vs. Pecero” against an opponent yet to be named. Legacy FC 20 takes place May 31 at American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Born in Mexico but now living as a naturalized citizen of the U.S. in Texas’ Rio Grande Valley, Trevino has earned eight of his 10 wins via stoppage, including four knockouts and four submissions. Thus far, all 10 of Trevino’s victories have come under the South Texas Fighting Championship banner, and he leaves the company as champion in both the 185- and 170-pound divisions.

Earlier this month, Trevino was featured in an MMAjunkie.com profile in which he stated his desire to become the face of Mexican MMA, a title currently owned by UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez.

“He wears ‘Brown Pride’ tattooed on his chest,” Trevino said of Velasquez. “He should have that erased, I’m sorry. If you’re going to wear a tat on your chest, live up to it. It’s not just fighting. It’s the love of the people. That’s brown pride.”

Trevino is expected to compete as a welterweight for Legacy FC.
