Former UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre took to twitter to inform his followers that his second ACL surgery was a ‘success.’
Former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre went under the knife for the second time in his career on Wednesday afternoon to repair his left ACL, then later revealed via twitter that the surgery was a ‘success.'
The surgery was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who operated on GSP back in 2011 when he tore his right ACL ahead of his UFC 143 title defence against Nick Diaz.
St-Pierre tore his left anterior cruciate ligament while at the gym several weeks back in his hometown of Montreal. GSP, who vacated the 170lb title shortly after his UFC 167 title win against Johny Hendricks, has remained in shape since taking a hiatus, but will need an extended amount of time away from training to recover from his injury.
The timetable for GSP's recovery will likely be made clear in the coming days.
