Forget Jones or St-Pierre, Anderson Silva still eyeing Roy Jones Jr.

Just two days ahead of his UFC 162 middleweight title defense against Chris Weidman, Anderson Silva is already looking ahead to his next fight- and it’s not a super fight against fellow champs Jon Jones (light heavyweight) or Georges St-Pierre (welterweight)- its Boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. who has his eye.

 

At 38 years old and after freshly signing a huge 10-fight contract extension, the long running champ Silva (33-4) has little left to prove and plenty of fights guaranteed. UFC President has already promised Silva a re-match with Weidman should he lose the title this weekend, although he enters the bout as the favorite.

 

Time is ticking though, Roy Jones Jr. is 44 years old and boxes sporadically, meaning that the time for this long anticipated matchup is now. Anderson Silva and Roy Jones Jr. are legends in the perspective sports, with nothing left to prove. This unlikely bout though could give them both motivation to put forth their best efforts.


Roy Jones Jr. has stated he’s up for the fight, the only obstacle seems to be Dana White’s reluctance to let his prized fighter wade into the unchartered territory of professional boxing. Forget your fears Dana, let these two warriors do what they do best and make it happen……
