For Todd Moore, Winning Solves Everything, as He Heads into Titan FC 28

Todd Moore

Last year, former Strikeforce welterweight Todd “Maniac” Moore had one of his better years after suffering perhaps his worst year professionally and personally in the year prior.

“2013 was a big comeback year for me,” Moore told MMAWeekly.com. “2012 was a disastrous year. I was going through a lot of personal problems, I had to have reconstructive surgery on my ACL and that kept me out the entire year, so it was not a very good year at all for me.

“I did a lot of soul searching to see what I wanted to do, so it felt good to come back in 2013 and get some victories and get closer to my ultimate goal of getting to the UFC.”

One of the things Moore changed that allowed him to rebound strong and get back-to-back wins in 2013 was a more matured take on his training regime.

“You get smarter as each year goes and get sharper,” he said. “I’m taking better care of myself in training. I used to always be high-energy and high-intensity and it kind of wore my body out, so I think I’m smarter now in terms of my preparation.”

“I’m excited to be fighting for Titan,” said Moore. “They’re giving me a platform to help me take a step towards my ultimate goal.Moore’s wins not only helped straighten out his career, but it also helped catch the interest of Titan FC, whom he’ll be making his debut for on May 16 in Newkirk, Okla.

“I’m treating this fight as if it’s my biggest fight of my career. Every drop of sweat, every drop of blood, every ounce of passion I have is invested into this fight. This is a big deal to me and I’m not taking it lightly by any stretch.”

Moore (16-5) will make his promotional debut at Titan FC 28 on their live CBS Sports Network broadcast against fellow veteran Ricky Legere Jr. (18-4) in a bout that could determine a contender for the company’s 170-pound title in the near future.

“On paper, this is a very even match-up,” said Moore of facing Legere. “We have about the same amount of victories and are about the same age as each other and everything else.

“There’s nothing he can’t do that I can’t counter or beat. I feel I’m the better fighter overall. I’m sure I’m going to have to work for it and he’s going to be a very credible victory to get a win over him.”

With a set goal in mind and his career back on track, Moore looks to take the most advantage of every opportunity that comes his way in 2014.

“There are no guarantees in this sport, but winning solves everything, so all I can do is do my best and keep on winning,” he said. “You’ve got to fight and win – that’s everything right there.”
