Fighting for third KOTC belt, Juan Archuleta says he'll be 'bigger than Conor McGregor'

Two-division King of the Cage champion Juan Archuleta is out on an ambitious mission.

After snatching both the promotion’s lightweight and featherweight belts in less than two months, Archuleta (11-1) is looking to add a third KOTC title to his collection when he faces Derrick Mandell (7-2) at Sunday’s “KOTC: Warranted Aggression” event in Canada.

More than grabbing another title for his shelf, this time at flyweight, the champ is out to make history.

“I’m going to be bigger than Conor McGregor,” Archuleta told MMAjunkie video partner Champions.co. “I know I’m going to be the best. It’s just a matter of time to let the world know.”

The clip gives a glimpse of Archuletta’s journey toward his record-breaking goals, from his early days following the family’s wrestling path to the call from UFC featherweight Gray Maynard that started his transition to MMA.

“I’m putting my all into this sport to become the best in the world,” Archuleta said.

The fighter’s confident claims are certainly backed up by trainer and UFC vet Joe “Daddy” Stevenson, who spared no compliments with the hard-working pupil.

“Juan going for a third belt is very important because that’s a goal that we set.” Stevenson said. “We want to achieve our goals to meet our longterm goal.

“Juan’s long-term goal is to be pound-for-pound one of the best of all time and go in the record books. By achieving something that no one else has.”
