The UFC’s Fox Sports 1 premiere continues to grow, as UFC officials Wednesday announced that featherweights Daniel Pineda and Diego Brandao have joined the Aug. 17 bill.

UFC on Fox Sports 1 takes place at the TD Garden in Boston and is headlined by a light heavyweight confrontation between Chael Sonnen and Mauricio Rua. Pineda and Brandao are expected to square off during the preliminary card, which immediately precedes the main draw broadcast on the debuting sports channel.

Pineda, 27, halted a two-fight skid in his most recent outing, submitting “Ultimate Fighter” Season 15 alum Justin Lawrence with a first-round kimura on April 13. “The Pit” fought four times in six months to begin his UFC career, starting strong with victories over Pat Schilling and Mackens Semerzier before suffering defeats to Mike Thomas Brown and Antonio Carvalho to end his 2012.

One year younger than his upcoming opponent, Brandao has won six of his last seven, submitting Dennis Bermudez to win the “TUF 14” title in 2011. Though a decision defeat to Darren Elkins would follow for the hard-hitting Brazilian, “Ceara” responded with victories over Joey Gambino and Pablo Garza, most recently submitting “The Scarecrow” with a first-round triangle armbar on April 6 at UFC on Fuel TV 9.
