Eddie Ng Injured, Ariel Sexton Steps in to Face Kamal Shalorus at ONE FC: War of Nations

Ariel SextonEddie Ng has injured his shoulder in training and will no longer be able to face Kamal Shalorus at ONE FC: War of Nations. Ariel Sexton is stepping in to replace him and will take on the Iranian UFC veteran in Kuala Lumpur on March 14.

Both Sexton and Ng are coming off wins against the same opponent, Peter Davis, with the Costa Rican stopping him with strikes in the last second of the opening round at the Malaysian Invasion Grand Finale last year.

Sexton (8-2-1) hails from Costa Rica and is a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Renzo Gracie. He returned from a two-year hiatus to defeat Davis in Kuala Lumpur last June after taking the popular Malaysian down and finishing the fight with a barrage of elbows from mount.

Shalorus (8-3-2) got his ONE FC career off to a good start with a decision win over Eduard Folayang in Manila last May. The former WEC title contender already has his sights set on the 155-pound belt that is currently the property of Shinya Aoki.

Whereas a fight between Ng and Aoki was never possible because both train together at Evolve MMA, there is no reason why the winner of this match-up should not challenge for the 155-pound title that the Japanese submission specialist has stated he intends to defend once before dropping down to featherweight.

This is the final match-up for the ten-fight ONE FC: War of Nations card, which is set for Stadium Negara on March 14. The event will be headlined by a welterweight title tilt between Nobutatsu Suzuki and Brock Larson.
