It’s been more than a year since David Mitchell last fought in the UFC, but following surgery and rehab he will step in on short notice to face Hyun Gyu Lim at UFC on Fuel 6 in Macao.
Mitchell accepted the bout after original opponent Marcelo Guimaraes suffered an injury and was forced out of the fight in China.
UFC officials confirmed the new fight on Thursday.
Mitchell comes into the fight following back-to-back losses in his only UFC bouts after facing T.J. Waldburger and Paulo Thiago.
Now the Northern California based fighter will try to get his first UFC win after a long period of rehabilitation on a neck and shoulder injury that kept him out of action for the last year.
