WSOF officials Monday announced the contest during a conference call for Saturday’s WSOF 12.
Ray Sefo, WSOF president, said the bout will take place on Oct. 24, but a city and venue for the event has yet to be decided upon.
Branch has not lost since 2012 when he was defeated by Anthony Johnson at Titan Fighting Championships 22. Since then, the 32-year-old has won four straight, including every fight under the WSOF banner. The inaugural 185-pound champion won the title won the belt from Jesse Taylor via submission at WSOF 10 in June.
Okami has fought once for the Las Vegas-based promotion since being released from Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2013. “Thunder” was victorious at WSOF 9 against Svetlozar Savov, earning his first victory by finish since a technical knockout win at the expense of Buddy Roberts in August 2012.
