Jonathan Brookins might want to call Amir Sadollah pretty soon because the two fighters are starting to follow a similar path after winning the ‘Ultimate Fighter’ reality show.
For the 2nd time in a row, Brookins has been forced out of a scheduled fight due to an injury, and late replacement Danny ‘Boy’ Downes will step in to face Jeremy Stephens at the ‘Ultimate Fighter’ season 13 finale show on June 4.
The UFC made the official announcement about the switch on Tuesday.
Downes is a fighter who always seems to answer the door when opportunity knocks. He made his debut in the WEC on less than a week’s notice to face Chris Horodecki.
While he came up short in that fight, Downes bounced back strong taking out Tiequan Zhang, before taking a one off fight outside the UFC just last week in Wisconsin where he submitted Tory Bogguess in the first round of their match-up.
Now Downes steps in to face one of the heaviest punchers in the lightweight division in Jeremy Stephens.
As for Brookins, the nature of his injury is unknown, but he’s still awaiting his official UFC debut after winning season 12 of the reality show in December 2010.
