Dana White vlog: UFC 169, UFC 170 behind the scenes, with reaction to early stoppages

Although the UFC hopes to carry the momentum of a successful UFC 171 event into Sunday’s UFC Fight Night 38 offering, this week’s video blog from UFC President Dana White takes us behind the scenes of UFC 169 and UFC 170.

The early-year pay-per-view events both featured some controversial stoppages in the headliners.

Check out the above video to see the behind-the-scenes reactions.

Notable moments in the 12-minute video include:

  • 1:15: Ray Longo shows off a black eye, apparently from actor Kevin James
  • 1:50: UFC 169 fighters, including a focused Alistair Overeem, prepare backstage
  • 3:25: A great moment as UFC 160 co-headliner Jose Aldo, who just wrapped up a victory, tells fellow champ Renan Barao to do the same in the headliner
  • 4:10: The crowd reacts (negatively) to Barao’s stoppage win over Urijah Faber
  • 5:40: Erik Koch and coach Duke Roufus discuss his much-needed win
  • 6:20: The refs give UFC 170 fighters a backstage reminder of the rules
  • 7:50: An emotional Jessica Eye tries to hold back her disappointment
  • 8:55: Rory MacDonald inspects his hand, which he previously sliced while cutting an avocado, after the fight
  • 9:45: Ronda Rousey gets her hands wrapped prior to the UFC 170 headliner
  • 10:30: Site coordinator Burt Watson gets the headliners pumped up
  • 10:50: The crowd boos the Rousey vs. Sara McMann stoppage
