UFC President Dana White says there’s a simple reason he’s so willing to get into fights with fans (and critics) on social media.
Why?
“I’m in the fight business,” White recently said to our friends at “The Seth Davis Show” at campusinsiders.com. “People ask me that all the time. ‘Take the high road.’ Nah. The high road isn’t fun. The low road is fun. That’s me. I’m the low-road guy.”
White’s no stranger to spirited Twitter exchanges, where he’s jousted with “weirdos,” “idiots,” “goofballs” and “morons” on many occasions.
The longtime UFC exec knows most prominent sports figures wouldn’t get away with what he does, but he said the nature of the MMA industry allows a little freedom. So if you’re willing to dish it out, you better be ready to take it, he said.
“My thing with Twitter and social media is you can’t just go on and say stupid stuff to people unless you want some stupid stuff back,” he said. “I’m that guy.”
