Nick Diaz has said over and over that he’d really only wants to fight superfights or for titles. He was granted the first part of his wish on Tuesday when UFC president Dana White announced on ESPN’s SportsCenter that Diaz would return to the Octagon on Jan. 31, 2015, to also welcome back Anderson Silva.

The two will meet in a five-round UFC 183 main event in Las Vegas.

While making the announcement, White added that, should Diaz defeat Silva, he could be granted a title shot.

“Absolutely,” White said of Diaz’s prospects for a title shot, despite losing back-to-back bouts coming into the fight with Silva.
