Dana White Lashes Out at Alistair Overeem: Fan Reaction (Yahoo! Contributor Network)

By David King,

When news broke out that some of the fighters on the UFC 146 fight card were issued a surprised drug-screen after the promotion's March 27 press-conference, many MMA fans instinctively had a bad feeling about it. It turns out those fears were justified, as Alistair Overeem's test came back positive for elevated levels of testosterone, putting his scheduled UFC 146 bout with Junior dos Santos in serious jeopardy.

Understandably, UFC president Dana White wasn't too happy with Overeem when he heard the news, and he vented his frustration during an April 4 media conference call.

"I am beyond pissed about this," White said. "I'm so [expletive] mad right now I can't even begin … The worst part is that he sat in front of us and lied to us. How [expletive] stupid do you have to be? Seriously dumb. Anybody who's using [performance-enhancing drugs] right now is an absolute [expletive] moron. It's beyond - what's the word I'm looking for - it's beyond belief. It's beyond comprehension. You're an absolute moron, a brain-dead absolute [expletive] dummy. It goes beyond a guy have any common sense whatsoever… I don't have a plan-B. It doesn't look good, does it? It doesn't look good."

Given the fact Overeem barely got licensed for his UFC 141 debut against Brock Lesnar (he stalled before taking a mandated drug screen), I certainly didn't think he would ever put himself in the same situation. It wasn't as if he had a good excuse for not taking the drug screen, yet, the Nevada State Athletic Commission let him slide, keeping the main event of the UFC 141 fight card intact. Unfortunately, Overeem didn't learn from his close call with NSAC, and it'll probably end up costing him an opportunity of a lifetime.

Given Overeem's prior history with NSAC, his chances of getting licensed for his UFC 146 bout against Junior are pretty slim. His excuses will have to a whole lot better this time around, and he better have some medical documents to prove it.

UFC matchmakers will probably have to find a replacement in the upcoming weeks, but the damage has already been done. Simply put, there is no one else like Overeem in the UFC, and his failed drug test will probably end up diminishing what could have been a really special card.
