Dan Henderson on Final Fight of UFC Contract, Plans on Re-Upping for Four More Fights

Dan Henderson at StrikeforceDan Henderson is on the last fight of his current UFC contract, and he plans on asking for four more fights when it expires.

A source close to Henderson on Monday confirmed initial reports to MMAWeekly.com, adding that the fighter is looking to re-sign with the organization with a win in his next contest.

“Definitely planning on winning and re-upping his contract for at least four more fights,” the source said.

Henderson is currently slated to fight Vitor Belfort at UFC Fight Night 32 in a rematch of their 2006 Pride FC encounter. The match-up, which takes place in Goiania, Brazil on Nov. 9, will headline the Fox Sports 1 broadcast. Their first match ended with “Hendo” earning a unanimous decision.

Henderson’s current run with the UFC is his third, the first ending in the pre-Zuffa era at UFC 17; the second ended with an impact when he knocked out Michael Bisping at UFC 100. The fighter went on to compete in Strikeforce four times, winning the organization’s light heavyweight title in the process.

As first reported by MMAWeekly.com in 2011, Henderson made his latest return to the UFC for a fight with Shogun Rua in a memorable main event at UFC 139.

Henderson on Monday arrived in Brazil for the UFC Fight Night 32 main event.
