The 145-pound fight will headline a UFC Fight Night card at AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas, promotion officials Wednesday announced. No other matchups have been confirmed for the event, which marks the Octagon’s first trip to San Antonio.
Swanson, 30, has shined in the UFC’s featherweight division, winning five straight bouts since faltering in his debut against Ricardo Lamas. After outpointing Dustin Poirier and knocking out Dennis Siver in 2013, the Jackson’s MMA product was sidelined in November by an elbow injury which required surgery.
Stephens has been equally impressive of late and has not lost in three fights since dropping to featherweight. Last year saw the “Lil’ Heathen” earn decisions over Darren Elkins and Estevan Payan, with a highlight-reel knockout of “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil” winner Rony Mariano Bezerra in between.
