Well, that didn't take long.

About 15 minutes after Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) granted Vitor Belfort a license to compete in mixed martial arts (MMA), Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) announced "The Phenom" as the next challenger for the promotion's middleweight champion, Chris Weidman.

When and where?

The main event of the UFC 181 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which is scheduled to take place on Dec. 6, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada. As "The Phenom" revealed during today's hearing (live blog and updates here), the promotion already secured verbal agreements and was simply waiting for NSAC to rubber-stamp the proceedings.

Mission accomplished.

No other bouts have been made official at this time; however, the Anthony Pettis vs. Gilbert Melendez lightweight title fight is rumored to be the UFC 181 co-headliner (more on that match up here). Expect more bouts to be announced in the coming days.

Until then, it's Weidman vs. Belfort for all the marbles.

Who ya' got?
