Chad Mendes Breaks Down Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor UFC 194 Main Event
The UFC 194 main event between featherweight champion Jose Aldo and interim titleholder Conor McGregor has been a long time in the making. On Saturday, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the two will finally settle their differences inside the Octagon.
Third-ranked featherweight Chad Mendes has faced Aldo twice before, and McGregor once. During the UFC 194 pre-fight press conference in Las Vegas, Mendes gave his assessment of the what might happen in the featherweight unification bout.
“I think both guys are going to cause some issues for one another. Conor has his long reach. He’s a southpaw. He uses pressure well,” said Mendes. “Aldo is very explosive, and he’s dangerous on the feet everywhere.”

While Mendes believes the striking exchanges could be very interesting, he believes Aldo has a distinct advantage if the fight goes to the ground.
“The one thing that I see Aldo having over Conor is the ground game,” he said.
“We’ll see what happens mentally when both guys get in there. This is a fight that I’m really excited for. Getting in there and fighting against both of these guys, I’ve felt their mental and their physical. It’s going to be an exciting fight.”
Mendes faces former lightweight champion and top-ranked featherweight contender Frankie Edgar in The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale main event on Friday night. The winner will have a strong argument to get the next shot at the belt.
