Cage Warriors 63 adds Stevie Ray vs. Ivan Buchinger; Curt Warburton signs

stevie-ray-2.jpgThe year-end Cage Warriors 63 event has a second title fight as lightweight champion Stevie Ray (14-4) takes on Ivan Buchinger (24-4), officials today announced.

Cage Warriors 63 takes place Dec. 31 at The Helix in Dublin. The main card streams on MMAjunkie.com following prelims on MMAjunkie.com.

Ray and Buchinger were slated to fight earlier this month at Cage Warriors 60, which hosted a four-man single-night championship tournament. Both fighters advanced to the final, but Buchinger couldn’t continue due to a rib injury he suffered in his opening-round win over Mick Sinclair. Ray, who scored a decision win over Jason Ball, then submitted replacement Sean Carter in the tourney final to win the belt.

Ray is now 5-1 in his past six fights. Buchinger is on a 6-1 run of his own, and the lone loss came to Conor McGregor, who signed with the UFC for his next bout.

Also announced for the card is a 105-pound atomweight fight between Catherine Costigan (2-0) and Elodie Puget (1-1).

Cage Warriors officials also today announced the signing of UFC and BAMMA vet Curt Warburton (12-4) to a five-fight exclusive deal.

He’s scheduled to debut Dec. 7 at Cage Warriors 62, though an opponent hasn’t been finalized.

“Cage Warriors is growing all the time, and joining them is the right move for my career,” Warburton stated.
