CM Punk disses fan who wants to fight him at UFC Q&A in Chicago

CHICAGO – Phil Brooks no doubt is used to it by now, given his past as a professional wrestler.

But on Friday, he had to deal with it again. The WWE superstar-turned-UFC fighter was faced with a “fan” at a Q&A session in Chicago who wanted to know why “CM Punk” refused to fight him.

It started with the crowd member asking Brooks if he remembered him from Twitter, then progressed to a level of uncomfortable questioning of why Brooks wouldn’t fight him.

“Are you a UFC fighter?” Brooks (0-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) asked the man.

“Are YOU? You’re an entertainer,” was the instigator’s retort, a reference to Brooks having no MMA fights when he signed with the UFC this past December. The Chicago native has been training at Duke Roufus’ gym in Milwaukee and said Friday he hopes to debut sometime in 2015.

Ultimately, Q&A emcee Megan Olivi tried to usher things back to a bit of more normal fan questions – if you can call some of them normal, when on Friday they ranged from asking Brooks who would win between comic character Mighty Mouse and Dana White’s bodyguard to who he’d want as a tag team partner in a wrestling match: White or WWE CEO Vince McMahon.

Eventually, the UFC turned the microphone off and the crowd’s boos were enough to send Brooks’ nemesis back to his seat.

Friday’s Q&A took place at United Center in Chicago following the weigh-ins for today’s UFC on FOX 16 event, which takes place at the same venue. The main card airs on FOX after prelims on FOX and UFC Fight Pass.
