A revolving door of opponents for Brendan Schaub has finally stopped spinning.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Tuesday made official a reported UFC 128 bout between Schaub and former Pride champion Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic. The bout will take place March 19 at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.
Over the last few weeks, Schaub had been rumored to face both former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir and Dutch fighter Stefan Struve, before the UFC finally settled on the former Pride Open Weight Grand Prix champion.
Cro Cop (27-8-2) enters the Octagon at UFC 128 after a devastating knockout loss at the hands of Mir back in September. The Croatian has struggled mightily during his time with the UFC going 4-4 overall. He will hope to bounce back against one of the top up and comers in the UFC’s heavyweight division.
Schaub (7-1), after losing to Roy Nelson in “The Ultimate Fighter Season 10? finale, reeled off three straight victories. He defeated former UFC heavyweight title contender Gabriel Gonzaga in his most recent action in the Octagon at UFC 121.
