'Bipolar' Gina Carano Says She's Never Gone into a Fight in 'Top Form'

Women's MMA pioneer Gina Carano could be making her return to the cage before the end of the year, thanks to the aggressive part of her personality that just won't go away.

Appearing on The Late Show with Craig Ferguson Tuesday evening, she explained why she enjoys fighting so much, as well as why she believes she still has something to prove, per MMA Mania:

It's something that I always loved to do and it's such a genuine expression for me. I wouldn't say that unless I was actually thinking about making a comeback possibly. I think I just have these two different personalities. I think I might be a little bipolar. I just have this super aggressive side to me and I have this shy side to me. They're going to meet in the middle one day. I can't wait for that to happen. I've never gone into fight actually feeling at my top form. That's something I really want to experience.

Carano has been doing a media tour to promote her latest action flick In the Blood, which hit theaters on Friday.

"Crush" has been focusing on her movie career since her last cage fight in August 2009, where she lost to Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino in Strikeforce.

The 31-year-old (whose birthday is next Wednesday) is set to meet with UFC President Dana White later in the week to discuss her future as a professional mixed martial artist.

She (7-1) has recently been linked to a showdown with UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, though it should be noted Carano hasn't made 135 pounds since June 2006.

That may not be a factor, though, as Rousey has said she may move up a weight class to fight an icon of the sport like Carano, per MMA Junkie.

The UFC champ, who improved to 9-0 in February with a TKO over Sara McMann, has been linked to matchups with Cat Zingano and Cyborg for her next fight as well.

Therefore, it is possible that Carano could meet someone else entirely for her possible Octagon debut.

As far as women's MMA is concerned, is Rousey vs. Carano the fight the fans want to see?
