Ben Rothwell Out; Travis Browne vs. Devin Cole Now on Tap for UFC on Fox 4

Krzysztof Soszynski and Devin Cole IFLThe injuries just don’t stop piling up for the UFC.

The latest to suffer the bite of injury is UFC on Fox 4 heavyweight Ben Rothwell, who has been forced out of his upcoming bout against Travis Browne due to an injured ankle.

It didn’t take long, however, for UFC matchmaker Joe Silva to find a replacement. Former Strikeforce heavyweight Devin Cole has been tapped to step in and face Browne at next weekend’s event in Los Angeles.

Sources confirmed the switch to MMAWeekly.com on Wednesday with verbal agreements in place for the match-up. MMAJunkie.com first reported Rothwell’s removal from the card.

The UFC has yet to officially confirm the new heavyweight bout, however, with UFC on Fox 4 just over a week away.

Devin Cole comes to the UFC as the latest transplant from Strikeforce’s now defunct heavyweight division.

A winner of two fights in a row, with one of those victories coming over current UFC heavyweight Shawn Jordan, Cole will now likely step in on just over a week’s notice to face one of the fastest rising stars in the division.

There’s been no official word, but it’s expected that the fight between Travis Browne and Devin Cole will likely stay on the main card for next weekend’s UFC on Fox 4 show.
