Bellator's Josh Koscheck: 'From here on out, refer to Paul Daley as P-ssy Boy'

Bellator may be a new home for former UFC fighter Josh Koscheck. However, he’s hoping to settle old rivalries inside the organization’s cage.

From the moment it was announced that Koscheck (17-10 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) had signed with Bellator, the first matchup that stirred discussion was a second encounter with Paul Daley (36-13-2 MMA, 2-0 BMMA). Koscheck and Daley have a bitter rivalry that dates back more than five years and a rematch would help resolve their differences.

Koscheck defeated Daley by unanimous decision at UFC 113 in May 2010 to become the No. 1 contender in the welterweight division. The victory catapulted him into a coaching stint on “The Ultimate Fighter” reality series before he unsuccessfully challenged ex-champ Georges St-Pierre at UFC 124.

The actual fight with Daley was hardly a “Fight of the Night” candidate. Koscheck utilized his superior wrestling ability to control “Semtex” from top position for the majority of the three-round affair. However, the most memorable part of the fight actually occurred after the final bell.

After the fight was over and Koscheck walked back to his corner, Daley approached “Kos” from behind and threw a haymaker to his unsuspecting opponent. Koscheck absorbed the blow and laughed off the attack. Daley, on the other hand, was punished in the form of termination from his UFC contract.

Years later, the fighters find themselves under the same promotional banner once again. Koscheck said he’d like nothing more than to make Daley pay for the cheap shot and silence the Brit once more.

“I kicked his ass for three rounds and he couldn’t even touch me in the fight, so he has to try to sucker punch me after the fight,” Koscheck said. “I remember at one point we were talking and he was telling me, ‘Let me up and fight me like a man.’ I said, ‘Let you up, you p-ssy? Get up.’ I kept telling him to get up, that little b-tch. I can’t wait to do it again.”

Koscheck signed with Bellator this past month after his UFC contract expired. At 37, he’s aware the end of his career is on the horizon, but said he is ready for a fresh start after losing his past five bouts.

“This is basically a new career for Josh Koscheck; everyone knows me as a UFC fighter and they were all shocked that I signed with Bellator,” Koscheck said. “At the end of the day, I’m 0-0 again. This is going to be my first fight. New chapter in my life and I’m going to go into Bellator like I’m 0-0 and get a new opportunity on life inside the cage.

“(Bellator President) Scott (Coker) has a good little roster at 170. It’s a tough division and there’s a lot of good, exciting fights over there for me.”

The Bellator welterweight division does have solid talent, but no matchup at this time has the ability to draw more intrigue than a rematch with Daley. Koscheck said he knows that much, and whether it’s his first, second or third fight with the promotion, he said he expects to cross paths with Daley again sooner than later.

“Josh Koscheck vs. Paul Daley 2 is going to be awesome; it’s going to break records, I can promise you that,” Koscheck said. “From here on out, refer to Paul Daley as ‘P-ssy Boy.'”
