Bellator MMA Releases UFC, Strikeforce Veteran Phil Baroni After One Bout

Bellator has released Phil Baroni after one bout with the promotion.

MMAFighting.com first reported the news on Wednesday, and Sherdog.com subsequently confirmed Baroni’s release with a Bellator official.

“The New York Bad Ass” made his promotional debut at Bellator 122, falling to Karo Parisyan via technical knockout 2:06 into the opening frame. It was the fifth loss in six outings for the American Kickboxing Academy representative, who sat out most of the past year after suffering a gruesome ankle injury at One FC 9.

Baroni appeared to allude to his release via Twitter earlier in the day:

Baroni, 38, is a veteran of 33 professional fights. He has competed for a number of organizations over the course of his career, including the UFC, Strikeforce and Pride.
