Bellator MMA LogoBellator 89 continued the trend of steady TV ratings for the promotion since it made the jump to Spike TV in January, following a stint on MTV2.

Bellator 89 drew an average of 719,000 viewers for the live broadcast on Spike, while the live effort combined with the immediate replay totaled 1,032,000 viewers.

The 719,000 viewers for Bellator 89 is slightly below the season average of 796,200 viewers, but the cumulative total marks the fifth time in five events on Spike that Bellator has crested the 1,000,000 viewer mark for combined totals.

Bellator on Spike has consistently drawn four to five times the audience that it had on MTV2.

Bellator 89 featured several middleweight tournament quarterfinal bouts, but was capped by an impressive, but extremely emotional performance by Bellator bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas.

Dantas knocked out teammate Marcos Galvao in the night’s headlining bout, leaving him happy to have retained his title, but in tears over having defeated his mentor.

It's 1985. Wham! is the hottest thing in music, and movies like The Breakfast Club and The Goonies are reinventing the "random kids come of age, often while wearing awesome '80s clothes" genre. The jungles of Brazil are home to no-holds-barred combat, but America knows nothing of it aside from what they see outside the bar on a Saturday night. And Scott Coker just founded Strikeforce. It's a kickboxing promotion, a modest West Coast thrill for martial arts fans to be run by Coker, an experienced more

The UFC continues to snap up talent faster than you can say Jack Robinson. Because the UFC is acquiring fighters at such a rapid pace, I've left a few people off my recent "Welcome to the UFC" scouting posts. Fighters like Sam Alvey, Kevin Casey, Leonardo Mafra (both Casey and Mafra are actually returning), and Rin Nakai and Tina Lahdemaki (who were each covered in seperate posts). Hopefully I won't have to do this much more, but with the accelerated rate at which the UFC appears to be signing t more
