It’s been a rough couple of weeks for Bellator, having to cancel another bout at the last minute on Friday night, but they were finally successful in crowning a heavyweight champion.

Alexander Volkov captured the belt vacated by the retired champion Cole Konrad.

Volkov had to use all five rounds, but he did just that, taking a unanimous decision victory over Rich Hale at Bellator 84 in Hammond, Ind.

The lightweight tournament final between Dave Jansen and Marcin Held was nixed at the last minute. Although both fighters weighed in Thursday and the fight was ostensibly a go, Indiana commission officials realized that Held was only 20 years of age and determined that he was not allowed to fight in a casino.

The fight will now take place on a future card in 2013.

Last week’s featherweight tournament final between Shahbulat Shamhalaev and Rad Martinez was also shuffled to a future card, which will take place with new television partner Spike TV. Shamhalaev was stricken with food poisoning on the day of the fight last week, causing the bout’s cancellation.

Mookie Alexander takes a look at the real winners and losers from last night's UFC 175: Weidman vs. Machida event in Las Vegas.
UFC 175 was certainly a mixed bag. There were some standout performances, an unfortunate cancellation, an insane post-fight question, some "blah" fights, and then an unreal war between Chris Weidman and Lyoto Machida in the main event that ended with Weidman winning an enthralling decision in his toughest fight to date.

When two UFC heavyweight strikers compete, the bouts never last that long. That was exactly the case with Derrick Lewis and Guto Inocente at The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale in Las Vegas on Sunday as Lewis crushed Inocente with ferocious ground and pound in the first round of their bout.
The two spent much of the first minute feeling each other out with Inocente largely, but not exclusively controlling the middle. The first bit of action was Lewis securing double underhooks and dropping for a sing more

Mookie Alexander looks at the real winners and losers from Sunday night's TUF 19 Finale from Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale was pegged to be a weak show due to the lack of names and relevant fighters beyond the main event, along with the fact that TUF 19 was universally derided as being one of the worst seasons in the show's history. As it turned out, the two TUF finals ended really quickly and expedited the start of Edgar vs. Penn 3. After a rather drab preliminary card, the more

A lot of fans have reason to be excited for the former Strikeforce boss's return to high level MMA promotion with Viacom's Bellator, but don't count your chickens before they hatch MMA fans. Fan and fighter reaction has been overwhelmingly positive: Bjorn Rebney is being edged out of Bellator. In his stead is former Strikeforce CEO and founder Scott Coker. The reason more
