Bellator’s 115-pound champion will return to the cage on Dec. 7, when Zoila Frausto Gurgel squares off with Jessica Eye in a flyweight contest at Bellator 83.

Sherdog.com confirmed the booking on Thursday with a source close to the fighters. Bellator 83 takes place at Caesars Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, N.J., and the evening’s main draw airs on MTV2. No fights have been officially announced for the event. MMAJunkie.com first reported the Gurgel-Eye matchup.

Returning from surgery to repair a torn ACL, Gurgel, 28, recently competed for the first time in more than 18 months when she outpointed Casey Noland six days ago at Bellator 78. Gurgel’s last two fights have taken place at 125 pounds, and she has yet to defend the strawweight title she captured two years ago when she outpointed Jessica Penne, Jessica Aguilar and Megumi Fujii in the Season 3 tournament.

Eye rides a five-fight winning streak heading into her third Bellator appearance. The 26-year-old made her promotional debut just over 13 months ago, taking a split decision from Noland before reemerging in Bellator this past April to record a unanimous verdict over Anita Rodriguez. Most recently, the once-beaten Ohioan outpointed Angela Magana on Aug. 17 under the North American Allied Fight Series banner.

But that's not a call out, according to the "Evil" bantamweight, rather a request to "make it a show." "Evil" wants you to know she's no punk and is willing to fight whoever the promotion puts in front of her. Including Holly Holm. Not to speak for UFC matchmaker Joe Silva, but Holm (7-0) is in need of an opponent. While the purpose of bringing "T read news >>

Will he or won't he? You'll have to watch Inside MMA on AXS TV to find out. Former UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz finally has a return date set, but being at the sidelines for this long has already cost him millions. Dominick Cruz became the consensus number 1 bantamweight when he first won the WEC strap back in 2010. He has defended that belt twice with the promotion, and twice more as the UFC titlist, establishing himself as one of the most unique and promising champions in the sport.
