Decorated amateur wrestler Shawn Bunch
now has an opponent for his professional MMA debut at
Bunch will lock horns with Chad Coon at
the Nov. 30 event, which is headlined by the Season 7 welterweight
tournament final pitting Russian prospect Andrey
Koreshkov against former Bellator belt holder Lyman Good.
The event takes place at the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in
Mount Pleasant, Mich., and the evening’s main draw airs live on
MTV2. Sherdog.com confirmed Bunch’s foe on Wednesday night with a
source close to the event, who also revealed that undefeated
British talent Michael
Page has been pulled from the card for undisclosed reasons.
A former U.S. National and Pan-American champion in freestyle
wrestling, Bunch, 29, has trained mixed martial arts for several
years but is only now dedicating himself full-time to the sport. In
Coon, the Edinboro University alumnus faces a fellow MMA neophyte.
Coon holds just one pro fight to his credit, falling in his
February 2011 debut via first-round technical knockout under the
Impact Fight League banner.
Page, 25, made the transition from kickboxing to MMA this past
February and promptly rattled off four straight finishes, earning a
trio of wins on home soil for UCMMA before traveling to India and
Tantawy just six days ago at Super Fight League 7.
