Tons of feinting and standing around in a very dry second round.Quinones misses a spinning back fist but immediately fires a high kick which connects, wobbling his opponent at the final bell.

Girtz ground Quinones down for the win.

The Northway MMA product comes in aggressively, looking for a takedown, which he inevitably gets, bulling his foe to the mat. Girtz slices through Quinones’ flimsy half guard and ends up in full mount early in the final frame. The Colombian is eating punches and elbows, but still defending himself. He continues to try to sneak out the backdoor, but Girtz continues to sit on his chest and thump him with short elbows and punches around his guard. The Minnesota native slows his attack, but is still very much in control of the mount. Girtz continues to pound away in workmanlike fashion from full mount until the final bell rescues Quinones.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-8 Girtz (29-27 Girtz)
Jesse Denis scores the round 10-8 Girtz (29-27 Girtz)
Joe Ortiz scores the round 10-8 Girtz (29-27 Girtz)

Official result: Judges Hector Gomez, Rich Green and Eliseo Rodriguez all score the bout 29-28 for the winner by unanimous decision, Brandon Girtz.

Round 1
Vepedo advances quickly, landing punches and throwing a head kick. Bernhard tries to respond with a kick of his own, but slips and lands on the canvas. The energetic Vedepo dives on him, but goes headfirst into a triangle choke. Bernhard locks it up in a hurry and turns his hips to the side, straining to finish the choke.

Vedepo's sub win was wacky and weird.

Vedepo turns and puts his knee on Bernhard's chest and neck, trying to pry himself free. Vedepo is caught up against the fence, trying to escape, but continues to hang on and respond to referee Troy Waugh. Vedepo yanks his head up, and gets a little bit of clearance and breathing room finally. Vedepo puts his left knee and shin across the throat of Bernhard, while still in the triangle, and puts all of his weight down on his foe's neck. Incredibly, Bernhard taps out to Vedepo's ad hoc shin choke, as "The Doctor" was essentially kneeriding his throat. The wacky submission end comes at 3:26 of the first round. Round 1

Souza clubbed Otani out cold.

Otani advances on Souza, feinting with his jab, while Souza tries to throw some capoeira-style kicks to ward him off. Overhand haymakers follow from Souza, but Otani responds with kicks. Unfortunately, one goes low and Souza gets a brief respite. Upon the restart, Otani starts with kicks again, but eats a massive windmill punch from Souza and falls to the mat. Souza tries to follow up, but his wild swinging can't find the target and Otani gets his feet back. Otani begins chopping at Souza's legs with low kicks and Souza attempts a half-moon kick in response, the dramatic technique whizzing wide.

A hard left-right combo lands for Souza and follows up with more caveman-style punches, smashing the former USC linebacker clean to the face. Otani is out cold and referee James Warring intervenes at 2:46 of the first round. The jubilant Brazilian celebrates with a series of backflips, handsprings and a full split.

Slack's wrestling too much for Moiseichik
to handle.

They exchange and Slack once again powers the fight to the ground. The ATT product shrimps toward the cage and manages to get to his feet after some time, avoiding any damage. After a few seconds at distance, “The Heartbreak Kid” once again closes in, Moiseichik defends, but the holes in his takedown defense rear their head again, and he’s on his back when Slack changes levels and sucks him down with a double-leg. Slack lands some idle shots on top, just staying busy. Moiseichik cage walks up and attempts his own shot, but is easily stuffed before the final bell.

He postures up to escape, but Alexandre has it tight. The Brazilian continues to wrench the choke, while Quayhagen takes his time, adjusting his posture to escape. Alexandre finally sags his hips, straining on the choke, and Quayhagen gets free. Shockingly, the striker then looks for a triangle. The Blackzilian product doesn't waste his time, however, quickly shrimping and getting up the cage wall to his feet. Hard knee lands for Alexandre on the break. Left hook-left kick to the body for Alexandre, who follows with knees and a left hook. "The Good Boy" is finding his rhythm standing. K. Mills

Alexandre avenged his debut loss with
big improvements in his MMA game.

Quayhagen is still backing up, but offering more with his jabs and low kicks. Alexandre is whiffing on his left hook and not throwing many other strikes as he closes the distance. Body kick and a jab and for Quayhagen on Alexandre, who finally retaliates with a lunging one-two that partially lands. A right followed by a hard left hook stun Quayhagen and the Brazilian explodes with a flying knee. Quayhagen tries to grab on to his opponent, but Alexandre turns around and blasts him with another knee that makes Quayhagen flop to his guard on the ground. Alexandre sets up in Ali-Inoki again, kicking his foe's legs and pressuring him.

Quayhagen manages to hop back to his feet, but it's all academic from here. Alexandre dances around as Quayhagen throws wild kicks until the horn.
