Promotion officials announced the news Thursday, also confirming a previously reported bantamweight headliner between Joe Warren and Owen Evinger. Additionally, highly-regarded female competitor Jessica Aguilar will appear at the event, though “Jag’s” opponent has yet to be named.
The participants competing in the featherweight semis will be decided tomorrow night at Bellator 76, when the quarterfinal round is contested at Caesar’s Windsor Hotel and Casino in Windsor, Ontario. As is the case with Bellator 80, the evening’s main draw airs on MTV2, and the preliminary card is streamed live on Spike.com.
Aguilar, 30, has won five straight fights since falling to Zoila Frausto Gurgel two years ago in Bellator’s inaugural women’s tournament. The American Top Team representative most recently earned arguably the biggest win of her six-year pro career this past May when she outpointed Japanese standout Megumi Fujii at Bellator 69. The Texan owns half of her 14 career wins by submission and has never been knocked out.
