Both Douglas Lima and Rick Hawn were cleared to compete at Thursday’s Bellator 117 weigh-ins. Lima (169.8) and Hawn (169.7) will battle over the vacant welterweight title in the evening’s main event live on Spike TV.
Bellator 117 takes place at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and will also feature the Season 10 lightweight tournament semifinals, as Patricky Freire (154.7) takes on Derek Campos (155.9), while Marcin Held (155) battles Derek Anderson (155.9).
Lima, 26, previously challenged for the Bellator title back in 2012 but came up short against Ben Askren. Since that setback, “The Phenom” has posted four straight wins, capturing the Season 8 tournament crown to earn his second crack at the belt.
A former lightweight title challenger, Hawn is also a two-time welterweight tournament veteran. The Olympic judoka last competed on Nov. 22, when he knocked out Ron Keslar to win the Season 9 draw.
