UFC officials announced Tuesday that Edson Barboza will take on Evan Dunham at the July 16 event, while Pat Healy will meet Gleison Tibau. UFC Fight Night “Cerrone vs. Miller” takes place at Revel Casino Hotel and is headlined by a titular 155-pound showdown pitting Donald Cerrone against Jim Miller.
Barboza last competed on April 19, when Cerrone dropped him with a stiff jab and then finished the Brazilian with a rear-naked choke at UFC on Fox 11. The setback halted a three-fight winning streak for Barboza, who closed out last year with a controversial majority decision win over Danny Castillo.
Like his opponent, Dunham was also finished by Cerrone in his most recent outing, submitting to a “Cowboy” triangle choke last November. The Oregon native was then expected to return to the cage last month but saw a planned meeting with Mark Bocek scrapped due to injury.
Though Healy submitted Miller one year ago in what appeared to be an auspicious Octagon debut, the Strikeforce veteran has since fallen on hard times. A positive marijuana test prompted officials to change the Miller result to a no-contest, and Healy has since dropped consecutive bouts to Khabib Nurmagomedov, Bobby Green and Jorge Masvidal.
Tibau last competed on Dec. 28, when Michael Johnson snapped the Brazilian’s two-fight winning streak in a second-round knockout. The 30-year-old was then expected to return to action in March, but an injury forced him to withdraw from a planned confrontation with Mairbek Taisumov at UFC Fight Night “Shogun vs. Henderson 2.”
