BAMMA 13 Set for Sept. 14 with Return of Colin ‘Freakshow’ Fletcher

The British Association of Mixed Martial Arts has reacquired Colin Fletcher after a short and ultimately unsuccessful UFC run.

Fletcher will compete against a to-be-announced foe at BAMMA 13, which takes place at the Birmingham National Indoor Arena and airs on Channel 5 and 5* in the United Kingdom and AXS TV in America.

The Sept. 14 event will also showcase a light heavyweight title fight, as Dutch judo expert Jason Jones faces quick-finishing, undefeated Swede Max Nunes. The vacant welterweight strap will also be on the line that night, when former “Ultimate Fighter 16” contestant Eddy Ellis takes on two-time Bellator tourney vet Jim Wallhead, who holds notable victories over UFC veteran Frank Trigg and former King of the Cage middleweight champion Joey Villasenor.

Fletcher began his career in 2008, posting eight wins in his first nine fights and capping that stretch with two victories inside the BAMMA cage. Capitalizing on his momentum, “Freakshow” ventured overseas to join the cast of “TUF: The Smashes” last year. After fighting his way up the house ladder, he was defeated by Northern Irish talent Norman Parke at the live finale, constituting his first official UFC loss. In spite of the defeat, Fletcher was still offered a contract with the UFC, but his deal was terminated after a disappointing sophomore effort against Canadian Mike Ricci this past March at UFC 158.
