Coming off a loss to UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez at UFC 160, Brazilian Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva is prepared for five rounds when he takes on Mark Hunt at UFC Fight Night 33 in Brisbane, Australia, on Saturday, Dec. 7 (airs Dec. 6 in the U.S.).
Speaking in broken English, Silva told the crowd gathered at the Queen St. Mall in Brisbane that he hates decisions, but is prepared for five rounds in his main event clash.
“I know this fight will be five rounds and, naturally, I’m ready to stand up and fight five rounds,” Silva said. “Naturally, [I can] fight five rounds on the ground. But I hate decisions.
“I’m ready, I train a lot, I train eight weeks for the fight. I’m ready to fight hard and win.”
Silva and Hunt are former teammates at American Top Team and have sparred countless rounds together in the gym, but both fighters said that they never had any second thoughts about accepting the fight.
With two losses to Velasquez on his resume, Silva faces a long road back to a title shot as long as Velasquez holds the belt, but a victory over Hunt would at least put him back on the correct path.
Tickets for the card have officially sold out with a crowd of over 12,000 expected to pack into the Brisbane Entertainment Centre come Saturday afternoon.
