Yasuhiro Urushitani (20-6-6) has been forced off September’s ONE FC 10 card, and Andrew Leone (6-2) has stepped in as a replacement and now will fight Shinichi Kojima (13-5-5) for the organization’s inaugural flyweight title, officials recently announced.
ONE FC 10 takes place Sept. 13 in Jakarta, Indonesia, at the 15,000-seat Istora Senayan Stadium. As with past ONE FC events, the main card will be available via online pay-per-view ($9.99) following free prelims.
An exact reason wasn’t given for Urushitani’s withdrawal.
Kojima, a former Shooto champion, debuted with ONE FC in February and submitted Rey Docyogen for his third win in four fights. Kojima, who twice fought Urushitani to a draw, is a former longtime Shooto champion who notched three title defenses over a three-year span.
He meets Leone, an American wrestler/grappler who’s a veteran of the Asian fight circuit. He made his ONE FC debut in May and earned a decision victory over Geje Eustaquio. The Road FC vet has now six of his past seven fights.
In addition to the new title fight, officials announced a bout between former ONE FC lightweight champion Kotetsu Boku (20-8-2), who recently lost his belt to Shinya Aoki after a 6-1 run, and South African striker Vuyisile Colossa (5-4), a longtime muay Thai fighter who’s won just one of his past four ONE FC bouts.
Additionally, Jake Butler (2-0), Princeton University’s former wrestling team captain, looks for his third straight ONE FC win when he meets fellow light heavyweight James Kouame (1-1), a Canadian karate specialist who makes his promotional debut.
