Andrei Arlovski 245.5, Anthony Johnson 230.2 All Set for World Series of Fighting 2 Main Event

For the first time in his career, Anthony Johnson did not have to concern himself with weight.

Johnson, who once competed regularly as a welterweight, tipped the scales at 230.2 pounds for his showdown with former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight titleholder Andrei Arlovski (245.5) in the World Series of Fighting 2 main event on Saturday at the Revel Resort and Casino in Atlantic City, N.J. Bantamweight co-headliners Marlon Moraes (135.5) and Tyson Nam (135.2) also met their mandated weight requirements without issue at Friday’s official weigh-in.

Arlovski last appeared at Fight Nights “Battle of Moscow 9” in December, when he recorded his second straight victory with a unanimous decision over Mike Hayes. Now operating out of Jackson’s Mixed Martial Arts in Albuquerque, N.M., the 34-year-old Belarusian held the UFC heavyweight crown from Feb. 5, 2005 until April 15, 2006. Wins over former International Fight League champion Vladimir Matyushenko, two-time UFC titleholder Tim Sylvia, “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 10 winner Roy Nelson and two-time Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championships gold medalist Fabricio Werdum anchor the Arlovski resume.

Johnson will carry a four-fight winning streak into the cage. The 29-year-old Dublin, Ga., native last fought at WSOF 1 in November, when he knocked out D.J. Linderman in a little less than four minutes at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Johnson spent nearly five years plying his trade in the UFC’s Octagon, where his talents were often overshadowed by an inability to make weight. He compiled a 7-4 mark within the promotion before being released following his submission defeat to Vitor Belfort at UFC 142 in January 2012.

World Series of Fighting 2 “Arlovski vs. Johnson” -- which airs at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT on the NBC Sports Network -- will also feature a middleweight scrap matching David Branch (185.2) with onetime World Extreme Cagefighting champion Paulo Filho (184.5), a welterweight tilt pitting Josh Burkman (170) against fellow UFC alum Aaron Simpson (171) and a lightweight duel pairing Gesias Cavalcante (156) with undefeated Grudge Training Center export Justin Gaethje (155.6).

Three and a half hours prior, the eight undercard bouts will stream on Sherdog.com: Waylon Lowe (146) vs. Cameron Dollar (144.6), Rick Glenn (144) vs. Alexandre Pimentel (146), Kris McCray (185) vs. Danillo Villefort (185.4), Igor Gracie (170.7) vs. Richard Patishnock (170), Chris Wade (160.8) vs. Ozzy Dugulubgov (160.1), Tom Marcellino (150) vs. Brenson Hansen (150) and Bill Algio (145.6) vs. Frank Buenafuente (145.8)
