UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem tested for an elevated ratio of testosterone-to-epitestosterone following a surprise drug test following a UFC 146 press conference in March. His test results showed a ratio of 14-to-1 when the limit in Nevada is 6-to-1.
The resulting fallout was Overeem’s removal from the UFC 146 fight card, taking him out of a title fight with heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos.
Overeem blamed the result on medication for an old rib injury, indicating that he was unaware that there was any illegal substance in the medication he took to reduce pain and inflammation, as well as accelerate healing.
MMAWeekly.com was on hand for Overeem’s hearing before the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Tuesday, where the commission acted on the test result and Overeem’s licensure in the state. Check out our video highlights from the hearing…
