The lineup for the UFC’s return to the FOX network later this month has been finalized with the addition of a lightweight bout featuring a pair of promotional newcomers.
Brazil’s Tiago dos Santos (18-4-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is set to meet Akbarh Arreola (22-7 MMA, 0-0 UFC), from Mexico, at UFC on FOX 12. UFC officials recently added the bout to the official lineup of the event.
UFC on FOX 12 takes place July 26 at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. The main card card airs on FOX following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Dos Santos, a Team Nogueira fighter, comes to the UFC on a nine-fight winning streak, the past seven of which have been under the Jungle Fight banner in Brazil. Six of those seven wins have come by stoppage. The five-year pro will get his first taste of next-level competition when he fights in the United States for the first time.
Arreola has some high-level names on his resume, including fights against Mac Danzig, Antonio McKee, Toby Imada, Brent Weedman, Ronys Torres and current UFC fighter Juan Manuel Puig. He has three straight submission wins to his credit. But like dos Santos, this will be his first fight for a major promotion. “El Caballero” has been a finisher by nature with 21 of his 22 wins coming by stoppage with 16 submissions.
With the addition, the finalized UFC on FOX 12 card includes:
MAIN CARD (FOX (8 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (FOX (6 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (FOX (4:15 p.m. ET)
