After Conor McGregor did this interview, 'six-figure' Donald Cerrone responded

It appears UFC interim featherweight champion Conor McGregor and top lightweight contender Donald Cerrone will have something to discuss when they meet up later this week.

Just don’t expect it to be a pleasant conversation.

McGregor set the feud in motion on Wednesday when we gave the above interview during a media luncheon. While McGregor (18-2 MMA, 6-0 UFC) meets featherweight champ Jose Aldo and hopes to unify the belts at UFC 194, which takes place Dec. 12 in Las Vegas, he’s looking beyond the pay-per-view fight and already discussing a move up to lightweight.

That division is currently ruled by champ Rafael dos Anjos (24-7 MMA, 13-5 UFC), who meets Cerrone (28-6 MMA, 15-3 UFC) in UFC on FOX 17’s network-televised headliner on Dec. 19 in Orlando, Fla. McGregor, though, suggested either fighter would prefer him instead.

“Rafael has nothing; Donald has nothing,” McGregor said. “Rafael will be lucky to make six figures this fight – and rightfully so. He shouldn’t even make six figures because he doesn’t even bring in six figures. Donald will probably scrape six figures because he shows up and fights every couple weeks, and he earns that six figures. But he don’t earn much more than that.”

That’s why, McGregor said, they should be happy with his planned move up to 155 pounds.

“Make no mistake: They want it as well,” he said. “They don’t give a f-ck about each other. If either of them had the opportunity to scrap that fight and come fight me, I can change their life. I can make them rich. I have the numbers.”

Cerrone, though, eventually caught word of those comments and issued a simple reminder to McGregor (via Twitter) for when they meet in Vegas later this week for UFC 191 fight-week activities:
