Headlined by a middleweight title clash between dominant champion Anderson Silva and the last man to beat him -- Yushin Okami -- UFC 134 goes down Aug. 27 from HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The card will also feature a pair of lightweight attractions, as Ross Pearson meets Edson Mendes Barboza Jr. and Thiago Tavares squares off with Spencer Fisher. Rounding out the current official draw will be a light heavyweight showdown pitting Luiz Cane against Stanislav Nedkov and a welterweight contest between Paulo Thiago and David Mitchell.
A veteran of “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 1, Swick (Pictured) debuted with the UFC as a middleweight, rattling off five straight wins before running into the aforementioned Okami at UFC 69 in 2007. “Quick” then made the cut to 170 pounds, putting together a four-fight winning streak prior to suffering back-to-back losses in his last two fights. The American Kickboxing Academy product was outpointed by Dan Hardy at UFC 105 before submitting to a Paulo Thiago brabo choke at UFC 109.
One of Brazil’s top prospects, Silva currently holds the Jungle Fight welterweight title. A winner of eight straight contests, “Indio” has not lost a fight since 2006. The only blemish on the record of the X-Gym representative since his lone defeat is a 2010 no contest at Jungle Fight 17. Silva most recently finished Francisco Ayon in just 67 seconds in October to capture Jungle Fight welterweight gold.
